From Bedrooms to Billions - Docu on British Gaming
This looks interesting - looking to get funding off the ground for a docu on the British video game industry from 79-96
The poster is deisgned by Oliver Frey and some of the pledge tier's include having your face drawn onto a Zzap 64 cover!

Ta for posting that. They sent me info on it a week or two ago but I hadn't got around to posting it here. I don't need to now
It takes a donation of $100 to get the DVD though. I'm in two minds about this kind of funding. I guess it's unlikely the film would make an actual profit, but if it did, people who supported the film financially should get some sort of payback if it was very successful.

Good to get the British perspective for a change, but no way at that price...
Re: From Bedrooms to Billions - Docu on British Gaming
Well I assume, if the film is made and available, the DVD will be able to be bought at a reasonable price. The $100 price tag is just a "thank you" for the donation size.
Unless I misunderstood you Andrew?

I think what the inference is, that people would want a DVD of the documentary as a standard perk for donations over $20 for example, and not have to buy one later despite contributing an amount under $100.
Another visitor... stay awhile... stay forever!

Certainly makes sense. Bit annoying to donate say $80 and then have to still buy the DVD if it gets made.

This is the problem with this sort of crowd sourcing, though. It will still be expensive on DVD, just as all those Kickstarter projects will still cost as much as a full game to buy. It's not going to be a huge release, and that means a limited duplication run initially.Iain wrote:Well I assume, if the film is made and available, the DVD will be able to be bought at a reasonable price. I just donated for the first time on Kickstarter for the new Tex Murphy game - can't believe I'm in for $130 - but given that I bought all the others on ebay or carboot sales, it's a little payback for them I suppose.

New out-take video with Julian Rignall.
I wouldn't recognise him at all without the hair. Looks a tiny bit like Bruce Dickinson actually!

I want his T-shirt.
[edit]. I don't literally mean I want *his* T-shirt. That would be creepy, and possibly unhygienic. No: I want one exactly like it, in my size. For me.
