Bob Wakelin Games Artwork
For those of you that don't know Bob Wakelin he worked for Ocean software amongst others, And did their game cover artwork, He also did magazine covers C&VG e.c.t
I saw a ebay shop (The attic bug) selling his prints and organized a group buy from them as the guy that runs it personally knows Bob so could get the prints signed by the man himself
Here are some of the signed framed prints of his I got, I have others un-framed Wizball, New Zealand story e.c.t Here is Rainbow Islands with and without logo as Ocean surprisingly couldn't get the rights for the original logo, Thats why Bob left the big bare patch in the original. The one they eventually went with looked terrible btw> The original print and the one with the restored Arcade logo (Done by me I might add ) Bob's Facebook page:

But a proper Rainbow Islands with the correct logo is a good idea...

Original wizball ?
Re: Bob Wakelin Games Artwork
Yeah, that's the original Wakelin art. I also have the piece for Parallax too. I would have bought Head Over Heels too but Jon Ritman had first dibs on it.

Nice, Oliver wants 10,000 for "The Chair Man" I'm not really surprised he still has it at that price!, I'd still love to own it though
Re: Bob Wakelin Games Artwork
That's the cover to Crash #1, right?
I must admit I was fortunate getting the two Wakelin pieces, a mate of mine interviewed Bob right before he was thinking of shifting them in... 1999 or 2000... and I got wind of what was on the block before most other folks.

Yes mate thats the one, Don't know what happened to the original Elite painting from the Zzap cover it's not on Oliver's sales section and not on his sold list, Maybe another one hanging on his wall I guess

It was presented to Chris Anderson. Maybe hanging up in his TED office...gargoyle67 wrote:Yes mate thats the one, Don't know what happened to the original Elite painting from the Zzap cover it's not on Oliver's sales section and not on his sold list, Maybe another one hanging on his wall I guess

Re: Bob Wakelin Games Artwork
Ahhh ok thanks for the info
Re: Bob Wakelin Games Artwork
Yeah, Chris got it according to Roger iirc. #3 went as a competition prize apparently (otherwise I would have had that). #7 and #10 were sold before any of the covers were made available to buy publicly iirc, and I didn't have enough spare money to get #6 and #9 when they were made available. I did however get #2, #4 and #8! And #59. And the artwork for Summer Camp, Winter Camp and Creatures II. I would have considered Retrograde but someone bought it at the old, original price of £2000 (!) when it was on the other art sales website.
